1. What This Website Is

Marion County Criminal History is an independently operated reference site. It is not part of the Marion County government, a court, the Sheriff's Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), or any other public office. The site does not keep official records, obtain official background checks, retrieve files on a visitor's behalf, or submit legal papers.

Its role is to direct readers to record custodians and official systems, including Marion County courts, local law-enforcement offices, SLED's criminal-history channels, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool (SORT). Public-record access in South Carolina is governed in part by the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, Title 30, Chapter 4, while SLED's criminal-information authority and dissemination rules are found in Title 23, Chapter 3. Links to outside search services may also appear.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is allowed only if you follow these limits. You agree not to:

• Interfere with the site's operation or prevent others from accessing it
• Use bots, scraping software, or other automated collection tools on its pages
• Attempt to enter accounts, systems, or areas for which you lack permission
• Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass another person
• Rely on site content for lending, insurance, employment, or housing decisions
• Violate any applicable local, South Carolina, or federal law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use material found here, or information returned by a linked tool, to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. This restriction is especially important for SORT information. South Carolina Code §23-3-510 can enhance criminal penalties when registry information is used to commit a crime. Registry records are published for lawful public-safety awareness, not vigilantism, blacklisting, harassment, or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Marion County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background reports. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides services designed to evaluate applicants, insurance risk, creditworthiness, or eligibility for housing. You must not use information from this site or a linked tool to:

• Make a hiring or firing decision
• Evaluate a rental or housing application
• Set an insurance premium or assess creditworthiness
• Decide eligibility for a government benefit, permit, or license
• Carry out any other purpose governed by the FCRA

When an official or legally compliant check is required, obtain it through the proper SLED channel or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The site's content is informational and is not legal advice. General explanations about Marion County charges, warrants, convictions, court files, or expungement cannot determine how South Carolina law applies to a specific person or case. Consult an attorney licensed in South Carolina for advice about individual rights, duties, deadlines, or legal options.

The site and its content are supplied on an "as is" basis. No warranty is made that:

• Information will always be accurate, complete, or current
• Linked or partner search results will be complete or correctly matched

Criminal-record status can change as charges are filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur among Marion County agencies, courts, and SLED. Nothing displayed here is an official statement from a sheriff, court, registry, or government agency.

To the greatest extent allowed by applicable law, Marion County Criminal History is not responsible for damages arising from access to or use of the site. This limit includes harm tied to reliance on content obtained here or through any linked service.
