Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a visitor enters a name or location in a search tool, the query goes to the outside company that operates the feature. That provider processes the request and returns the result. Our systems do not log or retain the terms entered in those searches.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We may retain an email long enough to respond and preserve the related correspondence. The message is not shared outside our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Basic technical details may be recorded by our servers as pages load:
- Timestamps for each page view
- The referring site, when one sent the visitor here
- The pages opened and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device’s assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a device. They can help measure traffic, identify frequently used pages, and show where visits stop. Analytics providers combine this activity into general usage reports. Visitors may block cookies in their browser, although doing so can change how some functions behave.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of individual criminal records. Marion County information instead directs readers to separate official custodians, including the sheriff, local courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Sex Offender Registry Tool. This resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information about visitors is not assembled into consumer reports or criminal profiles for others.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider’s privacy terms, data-retention rules, and sharing practices. Those policies are outside our control, so visitors should review them before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Some links lead to court portals, Marion County offices, South Carolina agencies, legal material, or private search services. After a visitor follows an outside link, the destination’s privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to observe activity across sites and select targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking technology.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited amount of information may be seen by:
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

Users Under 18
This resource is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that such information was collected, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Available rights depend on where a person lives. For government-held records, South Carolina’s Freedom of Information Act, Title 30, Chapter 4 governs access and defined privacy exemptions. Title 23, Chapter 3 governs the reporting, compilation, and dissemination of criminal-history information. Those laws do not turn this private resource into a government records custodian. For information we hold about you, you may:
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
- Request deletion of your information
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Request a copy of the information we maintain about you
